If you've read anything at all about Progress Note Systems and Patient Charting, you soon find the problem with most systems being offered. The system was either written from the computer technology point of view or from the point of view of an enterprising physician with varying degrees of computer expertise. Most of the physician styled systems are designed from the view point of the designer's specialty. Of course, the computer engineer side follows conventional thinking in program design that may or may not really meet the needs of the physician or his method of practice. There are some very comprehensive systems, but currently, only MedBase EHR has the patent pending method of showing the E & M Code that the note will support in real-time. This proprietory method also provides a method of recording note information with no loss of data, even if you have power failures, systems failures or you have to "break and run". When you return, even after other patients have been seen; the note for that patient is waiting exactly at the keystroke you left it. |
